The DC120 Camera Update Software is used to update the DC120 camera
firmware.
UPDATE PROCEDURE
To update your DC120 camera:
1. Copy all pictures from your camera to your computer. The pictures may be
lost if you do not copy them to the computer. If the memory card is inserted
in the camera, remove it.
2. Verify that the DC120 camera is properly connected to your computer serial
port.
NOTE: Turn AppleTalk off.
3. In the DC120 Updater folder, double-click the Updater icon.
4. In the Connect Port dialog box, select the appropriate serial port, and
then click OK.
NOTE: Once you click Continue to start the update process, you cannot stop the
process. To quit the Updater at this time without changing the firmware,
click Quit.
5. Click Continue.
6. Double-click the firmware file.
7. When the Updater is finished, close the DC120 camera front cover to properly
complete the installation.
8 The first time you turn on the camera after downloading firmware,
the camera displays "FORMAT MEMORY ALL PICTURES WILL BE ERASED".
Please push ENTER button to format camera memory.
NOTE: If the Updater fails, check the DC120 camera serial port connection and
then follow the retry procedure below.
RETRY PROCEDURE
If you receive a message that the DC120 camera update was not successful,
follow the procedure below to manually prepare the DC120 camera for
updating:

2. Completely power off the camera. If you are using:

3. Connect the serial cable to the camera and the computer.

front cover.
5. Double-click the DC120 Updater icon.
6. In the Connect Port dialog box, select the appropriate serial port, and then

the Updater at this time without changing the firmware, click Quit.
7. Click Continue.

complete the installation.

the computer.
2. Completely power off the camera. If you are using:
• An AC adapter. Disconnect the AC adapter and also remove the camera
batteries. Press and hold down the camera TAB and ENTER buttons, and
reconnect the adapter and insert the batteries in the camera.
• Batteries only. Remove the batteries from the camera. Press and hold
down the camera TAB and ENTER buttons, and insert the batteries in the
camera.
3. Repeat steps 5 through 9 in the Retry Procedure.
FAX/MODEM SOFTWARE
If you have fax/modem software installed on your computer, you may find
the software interferes with communicating with the camera. For example,
some FAX software extensions acquire the modem port at startup.
If you experience a problem communicating with the camera, make sure no other
applications or system extensions are using that port.
CONNECTING THE CAMERA TO THE MACINTOSH COMPUTER
PowerPc. If you are using System 7.5, you should install the System 7.5 Update
1.0, which fixes some of the PowerPC serial port problems.
PowerBook. If you are using a PowerBook (for example, models 160 or 180),
connect your camera to the Modem port to ensure proper communication. If
you connect the camera to an internal modem, make sure that the modem
Control Panel setting for emulating the Modem port is turned off.
Printer port. If you connect the camera to the Printer port, turn AppleTalk
off in the Chooser.
